How-do-you-do everyone,
I'm trying to pair my Galaxy Buds so I can attend a remote class without disturbing those effectually me, but am running into the issues you can run across above. I tried following viewtopic.php?t=228805 merely I'm not finding any errors when I run 'dmesg | grep blue'. I don't know if my issue is firmware related like in the postal service I referenced, just I'thousand leery of downloading random firmware...
Whatsoever suggestions on how to troubleshoot this further, and better yet prepare it?
Thank you for your aid!

Re: Help Pairing Samsung Galaxy Buds - Failed to pair: org.bluez.Fault.ConnectionAttemptFailed
Hullo jawenakat8ep, and welcome to the forum.
Does dmesg | grep -i bluetooth
render anything? There should at least be something like this:
Code: Select all
[ 22.033939] Bluetooth: Core ver 2.22 [ 22.033954] Bluetooth: HCI device and connection managing director initialized [ 22.033958] Bluetooth: HCI socket layer initialized [ 22.033960] Bluetooth: L2CAP socket layer initialized [ 22.033966] Bluetooth: SCO socket layer initialized [ 24.873698] Bluetooth: BNEP (Ethernet Emulation) ver 1.three [ 24.873701] Bluetooth: BNEP filters: protocol multicast [ 24.873705] Bluetooth: BNEP socket layer initialized [ 38.037540] Bluetooth: RFCOMM TTY layer initialized [ 38.037547] Bluetooth: RFCOMM socket layer initialized [ 38.037551] Bluetooth: RFCOMM ver 1.11
Then check dmesg | grep -i bluetooth | grep -i firmware
and if that returns something similar this:
Lawmaking: Select all
bluetooth hci1: Direct firmware load for brcm/BCM20702A1-0b05-17cb.hcd failed with fault -2 Bluetooth: hci1: BCM: Patch brcm/BCM20702A1-0b05-17cb.hcd non establish
you probably do demand to update the firmware (come across hither) which we can aid with if necessary.
If the concluding control returns zip, we'll need improve help than I can provide.

Re: Assistance Pairing Samsung Galaxy Buds - Failed to pair: org.bluez.Error.ConnectionAttemptFailed
I'm using linux mint 19.3 and kernel 5.3
My "Passenger vehicle 003 Device 002: ID 0a5c:21e8 Broadcom Corp. BCM20702A0 Bluetooth 4.0" shows the same firmware load upshot merely information technology works. I do have to remove and re-pair my headphones occasionally.
The firmware load failure bulletin might be a fallback characteristic. I believe native support for this scrap has been in the linux kernel for quite awhile.
Can anyone confirm?

Re: Assist Pairing Samsung Milky way Buds - Failed to pair: org.bluez.Error.ConnectionAttemptFailed
Sorry for the lag in response time; I but got effectually to this tonight.
I copied BCM20702A1-0a5c-216f.hcd from https://github.com/winterheart/broadcom ... aster/brcm to /lib/firmware/brcm and rebooted. Now when I open my Bluetooth settings it just says "searching for devices..."

Re: Assistance Pairing Samsung Galaxy Buds - Failed to pair: org.bluez.Error.ConnectionAttemptFailed
I renamed the hcd file and rebooted again, and my Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse stopped working, on top of Bluetooth not working...
Lawmaking: Select all
systemctl status bluetooth ● bluetooth.service - Bluetooth service Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/bluetooth.service; enabled; vendor preset: enabled) Active: inactive (expressionless) Docs: human being:bluetoothd(8)
I plugged in a wired keyboard and rebooted over again. The weird thing is my wireless keyboard worked fine to enter the LUKS password upon boot, but as presently as Mint came upward with the login screen it was dead in the water. And so was the wired keyboard at first. Finally afterwards 20-30 seconds they both started working.
Only the systemctl status bluetooth output remains the aforementioned as what I posted higher up, and dmesg | grep -i bluetooth returns Cypher over again.
EDIT: forgot to mention that I've already tried sudo systemclt start bluetooth. I enter my password and get no output. status remains the same.
EDIT 2: rfkill no longer even references hc0
Code: Select all
rfkill ID Type DEVICE SOFT Hard 0 wlan phy0 blocked unblocked 1 wlan brcmwl-0 blocked unblocked

Re: Help Pairing Samsung Milky way Buds - Failed to pair: org.bluez.Error.ConnectionAttemptFailed
I recollect I have an idea. Let's see the output of ls -l /lib/firmware/brcm/
I'm suspecting there may take been file with the A0 similar this: BCM20702A0-0a5c-216f.hcd
If and so, navigate to the folder with cd /lib/firmware/brcm/
then run md5sum BCM20702A0-0a5c-216f.hcd BCM20702A1-0a5c-216f.hcd
to encounter if they have the same output.
If the output is dissimilar for each file, delete the one nosotros added and rename the onetime one to the new name:
Lawmaking: Select all
sudo rm /lib/firmware/brcm/BCM20702A1-0a5c-216f.hcd sudo cp /lib/firmware/brcm/BCM20702A0-0a5c-216f.hcd /lib/firmware/brcm/BCM20702A1-0a5c-216f.hcd
Then shut downwardly for a minute. Boot up into Mint and then test.
If the md5sum output was identical, try shutting downwards for a infinitesimal instead of rebooting.

Re: Help Pairing Samsung Galaxy Buds - Failed to pair: org.bluez.Error.ConnectionAttemptFailed
Ok this is crazy....
I found this viewtopic.php?t=277584 and started following along.
all of a sudden dmesg started showing bluetooth entries once more!
Code: Select all
dmesg | egrep -i 'blue|firm' [ 0.164788] Spectre V2 : Enabling Restricted Speculation for firmware calls [ 0.205745] ACPI: [Firmware Problems]: BIOS _OSI(Linux) query ignored [ 1.087237] tpm_crb MSFT0101:00: [Firmware Bug]: ACPI region does not cover the entire control/response buffer. So the service is running now at least, just bluetoothctl says there's no controller.
I'll try renaming the hcd dorsum and chown similar yous suggested...

The OP in that thread never posted well-nigh having success in the end. I believe the Jeremy31 over there might be the same every bit our JeremyB from the thread you linked to. We may need his assistance in this thread as he's WAAAAAAAYYYY more experienced at this stuff.
This part would accept me a bit worried:
